The Vegas strip, for example, is a shining beacon in the distance for most of the game's early hours, a goal that players aspire to reach, but upon arrival, players quickly realise that the strip is just as run down and filled with corruption than any other part of the world nothing is sacred. The world feels real, sprawling, and alive, even after a nuclear apocalypse, but it feels like it's only just barely getting there, struggling to make sense of life after a disaster. This game is oddly mature for the Fallout franchise, with multiple endings that allow for player expression in ways that Bethesda have never really got right in any of their other ventures. But then I think any sane human would take a game that's complete and fun to play over one that isn't and isn't (coughFALLOUT76cough). Obsidian Entertainment have done pretty well for themselves with this game since it released back in 2010 and is still one of the most universally beloved titles in the Fallout series. With all the controversy surrounding the Fallout series at the time of writing this, Fallout New Vegas seems to be shining brighter than ever and it was shining pretty bright on its own. While this isn't my favorite Fallout, it is the best of the 3D era, and leaps and bounds ahead of anything that Bethesda Game Studios did themselves. Occasionally thins will break, though, and that is something to be taken in mind. Thankfully, by this point, they are almost all humorous and nothing more. Of course, it wouldn't be without bugs, thanks to Bethesda's buggy game engine. The writers recounted stellar stories, and the passion is quite clear in it. Want a tale of greed and how it pervades society for all eternity? Play Dead Money.

Want campy B-movie sci-fi? Play Old World Blues.

The DLCs only add more, with each having a unique flair. Compared to 3, it provides significantly more choice, divergence, and player creativity, and the tales told can be interesting, if not moving. All that is made up for by the writing and quest design of Obsidian. Yes, the graphics are extremely dated, but they were in 2010 as well. I could probably go on for paragraphs about New Vegas, but I'll just quickly summarize: New Vegas is an excellently written, crafted, and designed world.
